SVGFF as it is popularly known, is the short form of St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation, the main body that is responsible for promotion and development of football sport in the St Vincent region. The federation was founded in the year 1979 and later got affiliated to FIFA in the year 1988. Running its offices from the St Vincent capital Kingstown, it is also affiliated to Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) and Caribbean Football Union (CFU).
The federation also overlooks all matters related to the national football team of St Vincent and takes all important initiatives to promote the sport at the grass root levels in the country. Furthermore, it is the main organizer of the popular NLA Premier League of the region that attracts a total of 12 quality football teams. The league started in the year 1998 and plays a key role in honing the player’s skills and preparing them for the bigger platforms.
The role of SVGFF in promotion of football in St Vincent is well evident in the form of players like Ezra Hendrickson, who once used to be the captain of the St Vincent national football team. He is a world class player who has played in several major league soccer clubs in the United States and has brought laurels to his motherland (as well as SVGFF).
